Rolando Damian Rodriguez is President and CEO of the Jackson Memorial Foundation, providing philanthropic leadership since 1991 to the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, one of the largest teaching hospitals in the nation. He also serves as CEO of Foundation Health Services, a division charged with managing and marketing the hospital’s International Health Center and providing specialty patient services to international and private patients at Jackson. Under his direction, the start-up foundation has launched a number of major community projects, including the Ryder Trauma Center and the development of Jackson’s Holtz Children’s Hospital. In 2002, he founded Jackson’s International Kids Fund, raising support throughout the world for the care of critically-ill children who cannot be saved in their country of origin. Mr. Rodriguez also represents the Foundation as a member of Jackson’s senior management team.
Previously, Mr. Rodriguez was the founding Executive Director of the Catholic Health and Rehabilitation Foundation, an Archdiocesan agency created to develop and support a variety of health and elderly care programs in South Florida. He was responsible for the development and funding of Genesis, one of the first comprehensive residential AIDS programs in the nation.
Mr. Rodriguez has been active with the Association of Fundraising Professionals, having served as President of the local chapter and serving for 8 years on the national Foundation Board. Rolando was the first Hispanic American to serve on AFP national committees and boards and has been involved in the promotion of philanthropy and the fund raising profession in Mexico, including serving as visiting faculty for fund raising courses in Mexico City and Tijuana.
Locally, Rolando is active with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, having served as Chairman of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Children’s Health Initiative and Chairman of the Cutting Edge Award, and serving on the Board of Governors. He also serves on the Health Leadership Council of the Health Council of South Florida and the Advisory Board for Actor’s Playhouse in Coral Gables. He is involved in civic activities in his home city of Miami Beach through service on city committees.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Mr. Rodriguez grew up on Miami Beach, where he currently resides. He has a Masters in Community Psychology and is married to Patricia Caballero. He has 2 children, Nicholas and Lauren and a step-son, Marcelo Hernandez.
